2017 Run for Hannah

December 2, 2017 @ 7:00 am - 9:30 am

About This Activity

In 2007, Hannah Grant, then six years old, was involved in a tragic car accident. While riding with her mother and sistere, a distracted driver ran a red light and changed the Grant family’s lives forever. Hannah’s Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) resulted in Major Scoliosis (a curve in the spine) and took away her motor skills to speak as well as the ability for her brain to send the signals required for movement. Her life since that day has been full of doctor appointments, trips to special hospitals, extended hospital stays, surgery, therapy, procedures and prayer.

Hannah’s primary caregiver 24/7 is her mother Lynn; who is determined and committed to helping their little girl communicate and heal. It’s been a blessing to be able to enlist the help of a wonderful CNA named Melissa to work with Hannah and give Lynn a little break.

There is struggle every day. Hannah still cannot communicate on her own. She works hard at it every day with a new computer that has eye tracking called a DynaVox. It allows her to choose from different selections on a menu using only her eyes. It has given Hannah a chance to have a VOICE again in what she wants and needs.

The costs related to Hannah’s condition are never ending. The Grant family works hard to provide Hannah with the care she needs. Events like this allow things like the DynaVox to be possible.
